Head of Paid Media (Agency)

The Head of Paid Media will focus on developing a world-class paid media division within our integrated agency offering of strategy, paid media and data & analytics.

About this position

Main Responsibilities:

Team Management

  • Assist in finding, vetting and interviewing potential candidates
  • Drive the full employee onboarding process successfully, including orientation and training
  • Conducting check-ins, reviews and team evaluations
  • Address and manage team conflict and be the first point of contact for any escalation

Financial Management

  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of team timesheets
  • Building of proposals and cost estimates
  • Preparing budget requirements and financial forecasts
  • Ensure the revenue and profitability targets of the department are met
  • Negotiate and manage commercial arrangements with clients, suppliers, publishers and partners

New Business Development

  • Work with the management team to strategically identify and action new client opportunities as well as cross-sell and upsell opportunities
  • Be involved in the strategic marketing of the agency and help manage our own marketing initiatives
  • Develop professional and persuasive new business proposals and pitches

Client Management

  • Have an in-depth understanding of our clients’ business and their macro and micro operating environments
  • Develop, establish and maintain strong senior-level relationships with clients, providing leadership and support during strategy, ideation, execution and reporting
  • Keep up-to-date with clients requirements and preferences and proactively suggest new strategies to continually deliver on business, marketing and paid media objectives

Operations management

  • Custodian of all paid media operational documentation and processes including driving the maintenance, adherence and improvements
  • Manage the documentation of processes to systemise the departmental outputs
  • Delegation of tasks to the operational teams to achieve project goals
  • Track and manage team capacity and drive the required delegation and prioritization requirements


  • 6+ years of applicable marketing with a focus on Paid Media
  • 2 years+ management experience of minimum of 4 direct reports
  • Hands-on operational experience with digital paid media platforms with a focus on performance marketing
  • Advanced understanding and experience in major ad platforms (Google Ads, Meta Ads, Linkedin Ads. Google Marketing Platform and Programmatic experience would be beneficial) as well as Google Analytics and Google Data Studio
  • Experience in budget management across channels
  • Experience mentoring and developing a team
  • Experience driving new client business and managing client relationships
