About this position

Main Responsibilities:

Clarify Briefs

  • Clean up client copy
  • Create copy/core message

Concept Development

  • Brainstorm visual and copy ideas
  • Develop headlines and copy for campaigns
  • Retail marketing campaigns

Copy development on all projects including (but not limited to):

  • Entry Mechanics
  • Trade presenters
  • Emailers
  • Social media content writing
  • Video scripts
  • Audio scripts

Proofreading and Copy Checking

Proofread all artwork

Proofread presentations

General proofreading for internal and external use

Attention to detail

Company Website & Blog

To develop the following (independently, as well as based on internal brief):

  • Marketing material
  • Blog articles
  • Case studies
  • Newsletters

Show & tell

  • New advertising trends and techniques
  • Competitor activities and successful campaigns being delivered by other agencies

Presentation Compiling

    Assisting the creative team with building presentations (in PowerPoint)

Qualifications:

Educational Background:

    A bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field is  preferred.

Writing Skills:

  • Strong writing skills with a keen understanding of grammar, syntax, and style.
  • Ability to create engaging and persuasive copy that aligns with the brand voice and target audience.

Editing and Proofreading Skills:

  • Excellent editing and proofreading abilities to ensure accuracy and consistency in written materials.
  • Attention to detail to catch grammatical errors, typos, and other mistakes.

Creativity:

    Creative thinking and the ability to generate innovative ideas for various types of content.

Portfolio:

    A strong portfolio showcasing writing samples, copywriting projects, or proofreading work. This can be from coursework, internships, or personal projects.

Understanding of Marketing and Advertising:

    Basic knowledge of marketing and advertising principles to create copy that aligns with marketing strategies.

Research Skills:

    Ability to conduct research to understand the target audience, industry trends, and competitors.

Adaptability:

    Flexibility to adapt writing style to different tones, styles, and formats as required by the project or client.

Communication Skills:

    Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, understand client needs, and incorporate feedback.

Time Management:

    Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Software Proficiency:

    Familiarity with word processing software, editing tools, and content management systems i.e MS Powerpoint

Knowledge of SEO:

    Basic understanding of search engine optimization (SEO) principles to optimize copy for online content.

Social Media Awareness:

    Awareness of social media trends and an understanding of how copywriting fits into social media strategies.

Initiative and Enthusiasm:

  • A proactive approach to learning and improving skills, along with enthusiasm for the industry.
  • Interest or experience in retail marketing (beneficial)
  • Interest or experience in sports, fashion, liquor and tobacco brands (beneficial)
