Senior Strategist (Freelance)

As the Strategist, you are the strategic leader of your pod, responsible for shaping and driving a cohesive, high-impact digital direction across client accounts. You hold the strategic vision — ensuring every channel, specialist, and workstream aligns with the client’s business objectives, ICPs, and broader context. You’ll collaborate closely with Specialist Leads across SEO, CRO, Paid Media, Content, and Analytics to create high-level roadmaps, guide performance, and unify execution. You serve as the primary strategic point of contact for clients, providing insight, clarity, and direction that underpins all channel activity and performance outcomes.

Hourly Rate: up to R640

Location: Remote

Working Output: 20 - 25 hours per month (potential to increase)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and own the overarching digital strategy for each client, grounded in business objectives, ICPs, and market positioning.
  • Integrate multi-channel activity (Paid, SEO, CRO, Content, Analytics) into a cohesive and aligned strategic direction.
  • Partner with Specialist Leads to create strategic roadmaps that guide all pod activity and ensure consistent delivery.
  • Act as the primary client-facing strategic advisor, confidently communicating insights, performance, and recommendations.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of client context, industry trends, and competitive landscape.
  • Ensure all work produced by the pod ties back to the strategic vision and the client’s desired outcomes.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment and facilitate collaboration among channel specialists.

Technical Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in digital strategy, performance marketing, or multi-channel digital roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute holistic digital strategies across multiple platforms and disciplines.
  • Experience collaborating with SEO, Paid Media, CRO, analytics, and content specialists.
  • Strong understanding of ICP development, customer journeys, and full-funnel strategy.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with confidence in leading senior client conversations.
  • Proven ability to translate complex data, insights, and channel activity into clear strategic recommendations.
  • Broad understanding of digital ecosystems, including Paid Media, SEO, CRO, and analytics workflows.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools (GA4, Looker Studio, Tag Manager).
  • Competency with project management tools (ClickUp, Asana, or Trello).
  • Bonus: Exposure to attribution modelling, tracking frameworks, or data-driven optimisation tools.
