Mid–Senior Digital Designer (Contract)

The Mid–Senior Digital Designer will deliver high-impact design assets across paid media, organic social, email, and digital marketing channels. This role requires strong conceptual ability, polished execution, and fluency in AI-assisted creative tools to accelerate workflows. You will collaborate with marketers, strategists, and copywriters to create visuals that drive awareness, engagement, and conversions for multiple digital campaigns.

About this position

Retainer: R36,000 - R48,000 per month

Location: Remote

Contract Length: 3-months (acting as probationary period; after this to be extended as a rolling contract)

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design creative assets for paid media across Meta, Google, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, and programmatic channels.
  • Produce organic social content: static posts, carousels, motion graphics, and short-form videos.
  • Create email marketing visuals: headers, modules, templates, and responsive layouts.
  • Develop static banners, animations, and platform-specific variations.
  • Use AI-assisted creative tools (Midjourney, Firefly, Runway, Stable Diffusion, Canva AI, etc.) for concepting, prototyping, resizing, and iteration.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to ensure creative aligns with campaign goals and platform best practices.
  • Adapt creative for A/B tests and iterate based on performance insights.
  • Maintain and evolve brand identity across digital touchpoints.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong attention to detail and speed.
  • Stay up to date with design trends, formats, and performance-driven creative techniques.

Technical Requirements & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in digital design (agency or performance-driven environments preferred).
  • Strong portfolio showcasing static, motion, social, and email design work.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
  • Experience with modern video-editing tools.
  • Proven use of AI-assisted creative tools to speed up workflows.
  • Experience producing short-form video content for ads or social.
  • Deep understanding of mobile-first design and paid media creative best practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in fast-paced environments.
  • Figma
  • Video-editing tools (e.g., Premiere Pro, CapCut, After Effects)
  • AI design tools: Midjourney, Firefly, Runway, Stable Diffusion, Canva AI
  • Knowledge of platform specifications for Meta, TikTok, Google, YouTube, and LinkedIn
