The Sales Development Representative (SDR) will be our first dedicated outbound sales hire, responsible for generating and qualifying top-of-funnel leads. This role focuses on identifying high-quality prospects, running multi-channel outreach campaigns, and booking meetings with e-commerce SMEs looking to scale globally. As part of a growing startup, the SDR will play a key role in shaping our outbound sales strategy and driving business growth.

Retainer: R16,000 - R20,000 (excluding commission)
Location: Cape Town
Contract Duration: 4-months (possibility of extension or perm)
Start Date: Jan 2026
Commission: up to R2,000 weekly
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and manage prospecting lists using tools like Apollo, LinkedIn, and our merchant database.
- Execute multi-channel outreach (email, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, calls) to engage target prospects and book discovery meetings.
- Qualify inbound leads from marketing campaigns and convert them into sales-ready opportunities.
- Test and refine outreach cadences, messaging, and positioning based on data and customer insights.
- Maintain accurate CRM records (Apollo) for clear visibility of the sales funnel.
- Collaborate closely with the AE, Marketing, and Founders to improve lead conversion rates.
- Contribute to developing scalable outbound sales processes and best practices.
Requirements:
- 1–2 years of experience in a Sales Development or Business Development role (startup experience preferred).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple outreach channels and follow structured processes.
- Resilience, persistence, and curiosity in understanding client pain points (especially around customs, shipping, and logistics).
- Growth mindset, adaptability, and willingness to experiment.
- CRM tools (HubSpot, Apollo, or similar)
- LinkedIn Sales Navigator
- Google Workspace / MS Suite
- (Nice to have) Shopify, WooCommerce familiarity
