Media Director (Freelance)
The Media Director will lead and oversee both digital and traditional media initiatives across a diverse portfolio of local and international clients. This role is responsible for developing and executing integrated media strategies, managing media budgets, leading a high-performing team, and driving campaign performance across paid digital, social, search, programmatic, print, and broadcast channels. Working closely with internal stakeholders, clients, and media partners, the Media Director will play a key role in ensuring media investments deliver measurable business outcomes while maintaining strong relationships with vendors and identifying innovative opportunities for growth.

Main Responsibilities:
Media Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement comprehensive media strategies across digital and traditional channels.
- Align media plans with broader client marketing objectives and business goals.
- Identify opportunities to improve campaign effectiveness and media performance.
Campaign Management & Optimisation
- Oversee planning, buying, execution, and optimisation of paid media campaigns.
- Manage campaigns across digital, social, search, programmatic, print, and broadcast platforms.
- Analyse campaign performance and provide actionable recommendations to improve ROI.
- Ensure media investments are allocated efficiently and effectively.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of media professionals.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Support team members' professional growth through coaching and development opportunities.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Collaborate with creative, marketing, sales, and client service teams to deliver integrated campaigns.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with media vendors and strategic partners.
- Negotiate rates, placements, and value-added opportunities on behalf of clients.
- Manage media buying processes from planning through execution.
Industry Leadership & Innovation
- Stay informed on emerging media trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Introduce innovative approaches and solutions to improve campaign performance.
- Represent the agency at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure all media activities comply with industry regulations, platform policies, and internal processes.
- Maintain high standards of reporting, transparency, and accountability.
Technical Requirements:
- Minimum 6 years of experience in digital media, with a strong focus on:
- Social Media Buying
- Programmatic Media Buying
- Search Advertising
- Minimum 2 years of experience leading and managing teams.
- Proven track record of delivering successful media campaigns and measurable client results.
- Experience working across multiple international markets is advantageous.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Marketing, Advertising, Media, Communications, or a related field is advantageous.
